Job Summary
Coordinate program laboratories and assist instructors in the operation of the lab areas and equipment to facilitate the student learning process.
Essential Functions
Prepare and organize materials and equipment needed for laboratory/work site activities. Direct student activities on assignments. Clean up after completion of activities. Maintain records as requested by instructors and as required for safety compliance.
Set up laboratory/work site practical examinations; monitor examinations; correct examinations and reports. Provide instruction on an individualized or small group basis.
Maintain inventory of materials and supplies for laboratory/work site projects. Contact vendors regarding purchases and initiate requisitions. Monitor and update SDS information and notify instructors of updates as appropriate. Establish maintenance schedule and repair equipment or arrange for repairs.
Train instructors and/or students on the use of laboratory/work site equipment and proper use and disposal of chemicals; oversee appropriate storage, handling and disposal of chemicals/cleaning supplies used in labs; prepare a schedule of lab utilization. Coordinate chemical disposal with the Physical Plant Safety Officer.
Provide work direction to others assigned to work in the lab. Substitute or adjunct teach during the workday, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Completion of an apprenticeship program, associate's degree, diploma or related technical training in manufacturing, engineering, trades, or transportation fields.
Three years work experience in a career and/or technical occupation.
Ability to do materials estimates.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage projects and job sites.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.
Desired Qualifications
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment and processes associated with career and technical education.
