Job description

Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 is seeking qualified teachers for the District'sย Special Education Program at the elementary and/or secondary level. We are seeking qualifiedย  applicants to create a safe and caring climate and culture in which all students are prepared,ย  engaged, educated, empowered, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Qualified applicantsย will be part of a collaborative team, assisting with providing individualized instruction and supportย  to students with physical, developmental, and/or learning disabilities.ย ย

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:ย ย 




Instructional Planning and Preparationย ย 

ย Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogyย ย 

ย Demonstrate knowledge of students' individual educational, physical, emotional, andย  developmental needsย ย 

ย Select instructional goals aligned with student IEPs and state standardsย  ย Demonstrate knowledge of resources and accommodationsย ย 

ย Design coherent and individualized instructionย ย 

ย Assess and monitor student learning and progressย ย 

Classroom Environmentย ย 

ย Create an environment of respect and rapportย ย 

ย Establish a culture for learning and inclusionย ย 

ย Manage classroom proceduresย ย 

ย Manage student behavior and provide consistent reinforcementย ย 

ย Organize physical space to ensure safety and accessibilityย ย 

ย Work in an environment that is typically moderate in noise level, but may be loudย  depending on the student populationย ย 

ย Work with students in a variety of special education settings, including EBD, SLD, ECSE,ย  MMI, MSI, and Speech programsย ย

ย Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration withย  parents, administrators, and specialistsย ย 

ย Confer with parents, social workers, testing specialists, and other professionals regardingย  student progress and needsย ย 

ย Reflect on teaching and student outcomesย ย 

ย Maintain accurate records and documentationย ย 

ย Communicate regularly with familiesย ย 

ย Contribute to the school and districtย ย 

ย Show professionalismย ย 

ย Read, analyze, and interpret scientific, technical, and legal documentsย 

ย Respond to inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, and members ofย  the school communityย ย 

ย Effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or School Boardย  ย Apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, proportions, area, volume, and basicย  algebra and geometryย ย 

ย Solve practical problems and interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule based instructionsย ย
