Position Summary
The Commercial Learning Manager will lead the Commercial Learning Team that is responsible for strategy, design, deployment, measurement, and continuous improvement of commercial learning programs serving both Caterpillar employees and dealer organizations globally. This leader drives the development of commercial skills that support enterprise growth objectives. The role oversees curriculum strategy, learning operations, learning effectiveness, and instructor/vendor delivery while partnering closely with regional Distribution Services Division leadership, industry teams, and commercial business stakeholders.
The Commercial Learning Manager serves as a connector between business strategy, dealer capability needs, and learning solutions, ensuring commercial learning programs deliver business impact and support Caterpillar's strategic plan for profitable growth.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the global commercial learning strategy for dealer and employee audiences, including ongoing needs assessment, communication and feedback processes.
  • Ensure all learning initiatives and investments support enterprise priorities, dealer capability requirements, and customer-focused consultative approaches.
  • Manage the training development, delivery and operations team; includes external training vendors/contractors.
  • Facilitate key governance forums including Commercial Learning Steering Committee, Learning Council, and Dealer Advisory Group; Learning Council is being established to ensure alignment on a global skills framework & curriculum and share best practices and drive consistency across industry training teams.
  • Partner with regional DSD COE's to support dealer organizations in building commercial capabilities that improve customer engagement and business performance; by driving awareness of commercial skills training programs/courses, identifying dealer sales force development capability gaps and gathering insights on skills gaps/needs to continuously improve dealer learning programs.
  • Support Industry teams by consulting on skills integration into product & services training programs.
  • Incorporate modern learning methodologies, digital solutions, AI-enabled learning tools, and reinforcement strategies.
  • Establish and monitor learning effectiveness metrics; provide regular updates to senior leadership & stakeholders regarding learning outcomes and business impact.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in sales, sales management or sales enablement, commercial capability development, or related areas.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience.
