Summary of Job Duties:
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations
• Reviews general ledger and subsidiary account reports for errors or inconsistencies; Interprets data and points out trends or deviations from standards; Decides proper handling of financial transactions; Investigates and corrects problems
• Allocates funds for new and existing accounts when establishing and maintaining the general ledger on department operations
• Evaluates current and future data processing needs related to quality control and reporting procedures
• Review and approve all journal entries, monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and other statutory reports
• Manages and completes month-end and fiscal year-end closing procedures
• Prepares organizational Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
• Manages preparation of organizational Notes to Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
• Prepares organizational Closing Book Notes for Financial Statements to be submitted to the State of Arkansas Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR) office
• Provide general ledger documentation to various internal and external auditors; Implement new and revise existing General Ledger policies and procedures according to audit findings or recommendations
• Participate in and take the initiative to increase the use of information technology to improve the overall productivity and quality of output in the department
• Model and enforce compliance with the Division of Finance and Administration's Code of Ethics
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, plus five years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
  • At least two years of Grant Accounting experience
