Learning & Development Leader

Location: Bethesda, MD

Position Summary

Calibre CPA Group is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Leader to lead the Firm's learning strategy and professional development initiatives. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating firmwide learning programs that support our strategic objectives. The position also oversees Continuing Professional Education (CPE) administration and ensures compliance with NASBA requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of public accounting experience, including audit and assurance experience developing and facilitating technical training within a public accounting firm. This individual is passionate about developing professionals, collaborating with firm leadership, and building a culture of continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess firmwide training needs and align learning initiatives with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain the Firm's learning and development budget.
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging technical and professional development programs.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, online learning modules, and instructional resources.
  • Identify and manage external vendors for leadership and soft skills training.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Train and coach internal subject matter experts on effective instructional techniques.
  • Collaborate with Firm leadership to develop and deliver training for Audit, Tax, Accounting & Financial Services, and Compliance professionals.
  • Develop career paths and learning opportunities for professional staff.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

  • Oversee the Firm's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program.
  • Maintain employee CPE records and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate learning initiatives with the CPE Committee and Human Resources.
  • Administer and maintain the Firm's NASBA sponsorship.
  • Ensure internally developed training meets NASBA standards and documentation requirements.
  • Stay current on NASBA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Maintain memberships with professional organizations, including AICPA, IFEBP, and other applicable associations.
  • Recommend conferences, seminars, and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA license or other related certifications preferred.
  • 5-7 years of public accounting experience, including audit and assurance.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training within a public accounting environment.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Experience with curriculum development and classroom instruction preferred.

Travel

Occasional travel to the Firm's offices in Chicago and New York is required. A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
