Job description

Community Academy of Philadelphia Charter School (CAP) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Development Coordinator to lead and expand fundraising efforts that directly support our mission of providing a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment for all students.


The Development Coordinator will design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support key priorities including academic programming, student wellness, equity initiatives, facilities improvements, and capital projects such as expanding green space for athletics. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven leader who is passionate about educational equity and has a strong understanding of the Philadelphia philanthropic landscape.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Fundraising Leadership


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual development plan with measurable revenue goals

  • Diversity revenue streams including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and public funding opportunities

  • Lead long-term fundraising strategies including capital campaigns and major gifts initiatives


Donor Cultivation & Stewardship


  • Build, cultivate, and manage relationships with individual donors, including major gift prospects

  • Design and implement donor stewardship strategies to increase retention and giving levels

  • Oversee donor communications, acknowledgments, and recognition programs


Corporate Partnerships & Community Engagement


  • Identify and secure partnerships with Philadelphia-area businesses and corporations

  • Develop sponsorship opportunities aligned with CAP programs events

  • Strengthen relationships with local community organizations and stakeholders


Grants & Institutional Giving


  • Research, write, and manage grant proposals to foundations and government agencies

Events & Campaigns


  • Plan and execute fundraising events, annual appeals, and targeted campaigns

Data Management & Reporting


  • Oversee donors and ensure accurate tracking of all contributions

  • Analyze fundraising data to inform strategy and decision-making

  • Prepare regular reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees


Board & Leadership Engagement


Partner with the CEO and Board of Trustees to advance fundraising goals

Support and coach board members in donor engagement and solicitation

Provide strategic updates and recommendations to leadership


Qualifications


  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 5-10 years of progressive nonprofit development experience

  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships

  • Strong understanding of fundraising in urban education or mission-driven organizations

  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorsSearch)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working in a charter school or K-12 education setting
