Who we need
The CDI, Early Learning Centre, is seeking five(5)ย knowledgeable and competent Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our ELC Team for theย Contract Floater Position for 18 months. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of the childrenโ€™s program in a manner that is consistent with CDI Early Learning Centreโ€™s play-based program and reflects How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) Ontario Pedagogy for the Early Years, Every Child Belong (ELECT), the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Childrenโ€™s Services Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and Toronto Public Health (TPH).
This is a 25-hour weekly(5-hour per day), on-site, daytime position, working M-F, shifts may vary from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
Shift and room assignments are assigned according to Centre needs and subject to change as necessary. Must be willing to work with all age groups and be flexible to accommodate operational needs. Floatersย will be required to travel to varies offices of the Agency or of its affiliates from time to time as part of your duties.
As our new Early Childhood Educator you will:

  1. Supervision of children in a safe and healthy environment
  2. Update the childrenโ€™s attendance throughout the day
  3. Conduct consistent headcount during all indoors and outdoors transition of children
  4. Provide team leadership in a professional and positive manner
  5. Observe and document childrenโ€™s daily interactions and responses to track their interest and developmental needs
  6. Develop and implement planned daily programs that engage, stimulate and challenge the children
  7. Review regularly how your program reflects the Four Foundations of Learning and Development from โ€˜How Does Learning Happen?โ€™ (Well-Being/Expression/Belonging/ and Engagement) and AQI requirementsย 
  8. Works with Resource Consultants to develop and implement program plans for children with special needs
  9. Set up developmentally appropriate learning environment to promote active exploration with a combination of teachers-initiated activities and childrenโ€™s independent play
  10. Responsible for establishing the daily program routine and childrenโ€™s schedules
  11. Extend a warm Welcome to families at all times. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with parents and families.ย ย Provide constructive feedback regarding their child(ren)
  12. Create opportunities for children to engage in their community, library, community walks, etc.
  13. Ensures consistent behavior guidance and management are being followed which support the ELC Behaviour Guidance Policy.
  14. Conduct parent interviews as requested by parents and Director
  15. Responsible for the opening and closing of the Centre.
  16. May be asked to be the โ€˜In-Chargeโ€™ person when the Director is off site.
  17. Responsible for administering medication.
  18. Provide placement supervision to post-secondary ECE studentsย 
  19. Maintains records, program plans, daily care information, and other documentation as required by TCS, CCEYA and TPH
  20. Participates regularly in supervision as required by agency policy.
  21. Pursues professional development through training sessions, literature and College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  22. Contribute to housekeeping duties.
  23. Responsible for reporting any signs of child abuse to Childrenโ€™s Aid Society.ย 
  24. Inform Director in a timely manner of childrenโ€™s illnesses, injuries (with the correct documentation) and absentee
  25. Any other duties as assigned.ย 
What you bring:

โ€ขย  ย Registered member (in good standing) College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
โ€ขย  ย Knowledge of CCEYA, AQI, HDLH, ELECT
โ€ขย  ย Valid Standard First Aid Certificate

Compensation: This is a unionized position under CUPE paying $41,129 per annum and pro-rated based on the length of the contract.
