Senior Product Engineer

Location: Portland HQ/ Hybrid
Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, we are seeking a Senior Product Engineer with full-stack experience to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and implementing the features and platforms that power the global VETRO broadband platform in order to deliver the next generation of GIS fiber management software.
Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Design and develop features for our web based fiber management platform and enable our customers to design, sell, and manage their next-gen broadband networks.
  • Technically challenging GIS-based systems including state of the art tile servers, fiber network models, and interactive maps. All built on open source libraries and tools.
  • Web services that extend the VETRO platform to work with other critical systems
  • Support the production systems that serve our global platform by triaging bugs and application performance issues, and periodically participating in on-call rotations

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years development and shipping cloud-native applications and platform services to production
  • 2+ years experience working with contemporary Javascript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React) or similar.
  • 5+ years experience working with large relational datasets
  • Solid understanding of cloud services and their best practices (AWS preferred)
  • Ability to break down product requirements into deliverable software
  • Enthusiasm to work on new things and a readiness to jump in and contribute
What skills and experience are helpful:
  • Having worked with spatial data (for example via PostGIS)
  • Experience with real time data streaming
  • Knowledge of how and when to use various persistent and ephemeral data storage technologies
  • An understanding of frontend mapping technologies (Leaflet, MapboxGL.js)
  • Effective working within Agile Development Methodologies
