Job Description / Essential Elements:
LEARNING DIRECTOR/STUDENT SERVICES
LEARNING DIRECTOR/ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
Learning Directors are responsible to the school principal.
Among the duties and responsibilities are to:
  1. Advise students; help them make decisions concerning educational, vocational and personal issues.
  2. Work cooperatively with parents, teachers, other administrators, psychologists and nurses for the benefit of the students.
  3. Aid pupils in selecting a course of study directed towards the educational and/or vocational progress; help students become aware of the course of study he\she must follow in order to fulfill graduation requirements.
  4. Assist students in the transition to future training or education, including making written recommendations, helping in the application process and disseminating educational and scholarship information.
  5. Act as a consultant to colleagues and the principal in decisions concerning the students' progress.
  6. Recommend special activities involving community resources and agencies, when being devalued for the individual student.
  7. Confer with colleagues, heads of the departments and the principal concerning trends in curriculum development.
  8. Assists in the orientation and registration of students.
  9. Assists in the coordination of the School testing program; confer with students and parents concerning proficiency in the basic skills as shown by test results.
  10. Provide information and interpretation to the school staff and parents pertinent students' achievements, abilities and educational plans.
  11. Assist in maintaining appropriate records.
  12. Assists with budget development.
  13. Assist with the development and implementation of articulation and orientation programs.
  14. Assist the principal in planning and developing the master schedule.
  15. Supervise the administration of testing programs.
  16. Serve as data processing "coordinator" as it pertains to students' needs.
  17. Assist in research and planning guidance inservice for faculties at the school level.
  18. Perform additional duties assigned by the principal.
