Job description

Organizational Development Specialist

Job Description:
Job Summary
As an Organizational Development Specialist, you will support the implementation of learning and organizational development initiatives that enhance employee effectiveness and contribute to a culture of continuous learning at Purdue University. This role focuses on delivering high-quality training, developing learning materials, and supporting talent programs aligned with broader Talent Management priorities. Working collaboratively with HR partners, and business units, the position applies foundational organizational development and instructional design practices to support supervisor development, employee engagement, and workforce capability building. This position will be filled at either the P2 or P3 level.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Organizational Development Support: Support organizational development initiatives by conducting needs assessments to identify skill and capability gaps. Collaborate with HR and business stakeholders to gather input and support implementation of solutions that enhance employee performance, engagement, and effectiveness. Contribute to program development aligned with Talent Management strategies.
  • Learning Design and Development: Design and develop engaging and effective learning materials, including instructor-led training, virtual learning content, eLearning modules, and job aids. Apply established instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create structured, accessible, and user-centered learning experiences. Partner with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and alignment with organizational priorities. High level of familiarity with e-authoring tools such as the Articulate suite of tools. Integrate emerging tools and technologies (e.g., AI-enabled learning, digital platforms) to enhance accessibility and engagement.
  • Program Coordination & Training Facilitation: Support enterprise-wide organizational development programs. Facilitate program implementation and maintenance, employee training sessions and workshops ensuring an engaging and impactful learning experience for participants. Adapt delivery methods and content based on the audience, training objectives, and feedback to maximize training effectiveness. Analyze training data to make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Systems Support and Data Measurement: Support the university's learning and talent technology ecosystem, including platforms such as SuccessFactors LMS and LinkedIn Learning. Collect and analyze learning data, including participant feedback, completion rates, and engagement metrics, to evaluate program effectiveness. Identify opportunities for improvement and support updates to learning solutions. Contribute to reporting efforts and continuous improvement initiatives within Talent Management.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Four or more years of experience in organizational development
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate program activities, including timelines and deliverables
  • Experience developing learning materials across multiple formats (instructor-led, virtual, eLearning)
  • Proficiency with learning technologies, including learning management systems (e.g., SuccessFactors) and eLearning tools (e.g., Articulate)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with HR partners, subject matter experts, and stakeholders
  • Ability to collect and analyze feedback and learning data to improve program outcomes
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
