Responsibilities

Brasfield & Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity available for an Instructional Designer in Birmingham, AL. The Instructional Designer serves Brasfield & Gorrie’s internal clients as a learning and development professional. General responsibilities include consulting with internal clients on learning needs analyses, identifying appropriate instructional strategies, design and development of instructional material, simultaneous management of multiple projects of varying scope, and evaluation of learning programs.

Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Design and develop eLearning and blended learning content using established templates, authoring tools, and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate content, ensuring accuracy and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Apply instructional design principles to develop engaging, interactive learning solutions that support knowledge retention and on-the-job application.
  • Build learning materials for various delivery formats, including self-paced modules, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and blended learning programs.
  • Use authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, or similar) to produce high-quality eLearning modules and digital assets.
  • Support the creation of Level I and II evaluation tools to assess learner satisfaction and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to project timelines and deliverables by managing assigned tasks, maintaining clear communication with team members, and tracking progress.
  • Effectively manage individual workload and prioritize tasks with direction from senior instructional designers or project leads.
  • Occasionally facilitate internal courses or system walk-throughs to support the delivery of newly developed or updated content.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, instructional design/technology, or related major
  • 2-3+ years of work experience in Learning and Development or related field
  • Verifiable proof of expertise in developing self-paced learning content
