MADISON CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS

Position Title: Learning Commons Leader

Reports to: District Media Specialist

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Summary of the position: The Learning Commons Leader will support the Learning Commons, the District Media Specialist, and the students and staff of Madison Consolidated Schools in providing learning experiences that encourage students and teachers to become proficient in 21st Century technology skills.

Qualifications: The Learning Commons Leader must have expertise in current technology applications, and its implementation into the school curriculum. Ability to effectively communicate and explain student projects/lessons. Skills in human relations. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and staff. Other qualifications as deemed desirable by Madison Consolidated Schools.

Supervises: None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise the daily operation of the Media Center/Learning Commons areas in the schools.

Assist in designing elementary curriculum for elementary Media Center/Learning Commons spaces.

Provide in-service on use of the Media Center/Learning Commons to all students.

Assist the Media Specialist in maintaining proper inventories of Media Center/Learning Commons supplies

Assist in providing appropriate in-service training activities for media staff and building faculty in using media and technology equipment.

Assist in the selection and dissemination of appropriate instructional materials.

Implement a media/technology skills curriculum at the elementary level.

Promote technology, learning commons spaces, and information literacy within the schools.

Assist in providing feedback in the selection of resources for computer needs.

Assist the Media Specialist in disseminating technology information to staff and students in all buildings.

Troubleshoot problems with software as needed.

Troubleshoot problems with computer hardware as needed.

Attend all appropriate media center related in-service workshops.

Other duties as assigned by the Media Specialist.

Attend PLTW training on specified dates before school commences in August.
