Learning Management System Administrator


Description of Position:

Located within the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), this position provides advanced technical leadership and administrative oversight for the University’s Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas, and associated enterprise instructional technologies. The role is responsible for the strategic configuration, optimization, integration, and long-term sustainability of the LMS ecosystem.


As the institutional LMS technical lead, this position manages system architecture, integrations, and data workflows while safeguarding reliability, security, and compliance and contributing to institutional reporting and informed decision-making. The work involves a close partnership with TLC colleagues, Information Technology staff, vendors, and academic departments to sustain a stable, scalable digital learning infrastructure.


This position also provides targeted instructional technology consultation to support faculty and instructional staff in the effective implementation of technology-enhanced learning.


Essential Functions:

  • Serves as institutional technical lead for Canvas LMS, overseeing configuration, optimization, and long-term sustainability of the LMS ecosystem.
  • Manages LMS architecture, integrations, and data workflows, ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance.
  • Develops reports and data extracts from LMS and related systems to support institutional decision-making and academic
  • analytics (early alert & student learning outcomes).
  • Collaborates with TLC staff, IT, vendors, and academic units to maintain a stable, scalable, digital learning environment.
  • Provides instructional technology consultation to faculty and staff on the effective use of technology-enhanced learning tools.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or related field; an associate's degree of applied science in network and systems administration, and two years of educational technology administration experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of higher education or K-12 LMS administration experience
  • Experience with APIs, scripting, and automation
  • Technical documentation and communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and customer-service orientation
  • The University requires that all staff members be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition) and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU and be willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing LMS integrations and enterprise instructional technologies
  • Experience supporting accessibility and usability standards in digital learning
  • Experience with institutional reporting and data analysis
  • Experience with ticketing and service management systems
  • Experience with HTML and CSS

Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience.
