Purpose:

Lead the transformation of AbbVie's enterprise learning ecosystem by shaping the future of learning technology, artificial intelligence-enabled development, learner experience, data, and innovation. This role serves as a strategic architect, builder, and change catalyst, combining vision with execution to create capabilities that do not exist today and scale those that create measurable impact.

Bringing deep curiosity, technology fluency, and an innovation mindset, this leader will continuously explore emerging trends, challenge conventional thinking, and identify new opportunities to accelerate workforce readiness, employee performance, and organizational growth. Working across Learning & Development, Talent, Human Resources, Business Technology Solutions (IT), and business functions, the role will connect strategy, technology, data, and human-centered design to create modern development experiences and a future-ready learning ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • LEARNING TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY Lead development and execution of the enterprise learning technology strategy, ecosystem architecture, and multi-year roadmap. Ensure learning technology investments support workforce capability development, talent priorities, and business objectives.
  • GOVERNANCE Establish and lead governance processes for learning platforms, technology standards, operating practices, vendor management, and ecosystem decision-making. Create clarity of roles, responsibilities, standards, and accountability across the learning landscape.
  • ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND INNOVATION Lead the evaluation, piloting, adoption, and scaling of artificial intelligence-enabled learning solutions and emerging technologies that improve learning effectiveness, productivity, employee experience, and business impact.
  • STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS Partner closely with Business Technology Solutions (IT), Human Resources, Talent, Compliance, and business stakeholders to align technology capabilities with organizational development priorities and enterprise goals.
  • DATA AND MEASUREMENT Establish learning data, analytics, and measurement capabilities that connect development activity, workforce capability growth, readiness indicators, adoption, and business outcomes.
  • LEARNER EXPERIENCE Improve employee discovery, accessibility, personalization, recommendations, navigation, and integration across learning technologies and digital development experiences.
  • VENDOR MANAGEMENT Evaluate, select, manage, and optimize external technology providers and strategic partners to maximize value, innovation, scalability, service quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT Lead communication, adoption, and change initiatives associated with new technologies, tools, capabilities, processes, and enterprise-wide transformations.
  • ENTERPRISE COLLABORATION Build strong partnerships across Learning & Development, Talent, Human Resources, Business Technology Solutions (IT), and functional stakeholders to ensure alignment, scalability, and successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Provide thought leadership on future trends, innovation opportunities, workforce capability needs, and modern learning practices. Continuously identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and improve the enterprise learning ecosystem.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Leadership Development, Training and Development, Business Human Resources or relevant business experience, with an emphasis on developing talent and leader capabilities.
  • Deep leadership development subject matter expertise required along with an active interest in creating innovative and thought provoking leadership learning experiences.
  • Record of driving business performance. Knows what it takes for leaders to develop others and create high performance teams.
  • Strong business and financial acumen skills.
  • Experience in successfully managing enterprise wide leadership learning programs or corporate initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and deliver executive ready presentations, ability to influence executive audiences.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into leadership learning solutions.
  • Experience leading measurement and evaluation of learning solutions.
  • Proven ability to conduct global needs assessment and strong instructional design skills and experience preferred
