Job description

The Manager, Learning & Development (Bakery Training) serves as a strategic Learning & Development partner to Bakery Operations, responsible for designing, deploying, and facilitating high-impact learning solutions across bakery teams. This role focuses on building capability through effective learning design principles, coaching, and validation, ensuring that all bakery team members execute consistently against production, quality, and food safety standards. Partnering closely with Bakery Operations Leaders and Instructional Designers, this role translates operational needs into practical, scalable learning experiences. The Manager plays a critical role in bridging training design and execution, bringing programs to life through facilitation and coaching, while capturing insights to continuously improve training effectiveness, team member proficiency, and overall operational performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Design & Curriculum Development
  • Design structured, learning programs and experiences across bakery functions, including onboarding, career ladders, and management development
    Identify skill gaps, performance trends, and capability needs across bakery teams
  • Partner with Instructional Designers to develop effective learning programs and experiences, leveraging innovative delivery formats (e.g., microlearning, mobile, blended learning, in-person)
  • Establish and maintain validation systems and tools to confirm readiness for independent and team performance
  • Ensure all learning content aligns with food safety, quality, and production standards

Collaboration & Bakery Operations Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted Learning & Development Advisor to Bakery Operations Leaders, aligning training strategies with production goals, operational priorities and standards
  • Partner with Bakery Operations on onboarding, skill progression, and proficiency expectations
  • Collaborate with HRBPs and Operations leaders to align learning programs with career ladders and performance systems

Program Management & Governance
  • Manage the lifecycle of bakery learning programs: planning, piloting, rollout, evaluation, and refresh cycles
  • Partner with the VP of L&D to establish annual learning calendars and deployment priorities
  • Implement governance processes for certification, ensuring consistency across markets
  • Track program completion, effectiveness, and business impact through established KPIs

Facilitation & Coaching
  • Facilitate hands-on and virtual training sessions for bakery team members and leaders
  • Provide real-time coaching on production techniques, standards, and execution
  • Partner with bakery managers and leaders to reinforce training through ongoing coaching, observation and follow-up
  • Model and reinforce Tatte's values, Craft, Warmth, and Belonging, through all training interactions, setting the standard for how learning is delivered in the field

Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and track success metrics (completion, readiness, time-to-productivity, program NPS)
  • Gather learner and leader feedback to inform program improvements
  • Identify opportunities to enhance training efficiency, delivery methods, and support models
  • Recommend enhancements to content, systems, and delivery models based on analytics and outcomes
  • Provide insights and reporting to Bakery Operations and L&D leadership to inform decision-making

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 2-4 years of Learning & Development, technical training, or operations training experience within a bakery, pastry, or food production environment
  • Proven success facilitating hands-on training and executing train-the-trainer programs across multi-unit or multi-market environments
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, project management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to translate learning strategy into practical, scalable execution within operations
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms (UKG, Jolt, or similar) and training tracking tools
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality, and production standards within a bakery environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred
  • College Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Education, Culinary Arts, or related field
  • Relevant food safety certifications (e.g., ServSafe, Allergen, CPR)
  • Experience supporting or building certification and validation programs
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is a plus
