Job description

We're looking for a Lead UX Designer to help shape the future of our consumer-facing digital ecosystem. In this role, you'll bring design thinking, creativity, and empathy to drive meaningful experiences that improve millions of lives around the world.

About the Team

At Resmed, every day is a chance to spark fresh ideas and push boundaries. Our Customer Experience team is a diverse group of designers, researchers, behavioral scientists, content strategists, and writers united by one thing: a deep commitment to understanding people and building solutions that truly serve them.

We collaborate with other functional teams like product management, engineering, and brand to create seamless, human-centered experiences. Together, we're building what healthcare can be tomorrow-while delivering real impact today.

Location - San Diego

About the Role

As a Lead UX Designer, you'll guide the design of critical consumer experiences across our digital portfolio, focused particularly on our flagship consumer-facing app myAir. You'll be a connector-bringing product, engineering, and design disciplines together around a shared vision of what's possible.

You'll shape strategies, design journeys, and facilitate workshops that uncover opportunities for innovation. You'll also mentor designers, champion design across the business, and ensure our solutions balance usability, delight, and technical feasibility.

This role is perfect for a designer who is passionate about solving complex problems, thrives in cross-functional collaboration, and wants their work to directly improve lives at scale.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, Lead, and champion an ambitious user-centred experience strategy (this is an opportunity to redefine what great digital healthcare experiences can be!)

  • Develop guiding Experience Principles to drive consistency across our digital solution ecosystem.

  • Own our Digital Experience pipeline, launching initiatives that get us closer to our ideal state.

  • Lead design across multiple product teams, advocating for user needs and inspiring bold solutions

  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and companion teams like Industrial Design, Marketing, and Experience Insights to create cohesive experiences. Map our experience ambitions over time with a clear implementation strategy.

  • Anticipate a changing user behaviors and digital solution landscape to inform Experience direction.

  • Facilitate alignment and buy-in across cross-functional teams coordinating effort to enact our strategy. Facilitate discovery workshops, design sprints, and ideation sessions that drive clarity and alignment.

  • Manage prioritization, interdependencies, conflicts and trade-offs.

  • Craft design artifacts-journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and flows-that bring ideas to life

  • Rapidly iterate concepts based on user research and technical input

  • Contribute to our global design system and champion design best practices across the organization

  • Support and participate in user research and usability testing, translating insights into actionable improvements

  • Mentor and coach other designers, helping them grow in craft and confidence (this is an influence role, not direct people management)

What You Bring

  • A strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design methods and artifacts (wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, etc.)

  • 8+ years of UX design experience in fast-paced, agile environments

  • Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools

  • Deep knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices

  • Proven success delivering intuitive, delightful products informed by research

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills-you can inspire both peers and senior stakeholders

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative setting

  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience planning and leading user research

  • Familiarity with lean experimentation and innovation methods

  • Background in healthcare or medical devices

  • Exposure to AI/ML-powered product experiences

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology-or equivalent experience
