Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QA (Quality Assurance) Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, security, and usability of software solutions delivered to our clients. This role supports a broad portfolio that may include web applications, APIs, system integrations, databases, cloud services, and Microsoft Power Platform solutions. The QA Engineer will develop test strategies, perform manual and automated testing, manage defects, support user acceptance testing, and collaborate with delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Experience testing Microsoft Power Apps and Dataverse solutions is an important component of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, and requirements traceability for software applications and business solutions.
  • Review business requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify quality risks, gaps, and testability concerns early in the development lifecycle.
  • Design and execute functional, system, integration, API, end-to-end, regression, smoke, exploratory, and release-readiness testing.
  • Test Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps canvas and model-driven applications, Power Automate workflows, and Dataverse data models and security configurations.
  • Build, maintain, and improve automated regression tests using Playwright, Selenium, EasyRepro, or comparable automation frameworks.
  • Validate business rules, user permissions, authentication and authorization, APIs, integrations, data integrity, database updates, workflow behavior, and error handling.
  • Create and maintain representative test data, test environments, reusable test assets, edge-case scenarios, and negative test cases.
  • Document, prioritize, and manage defects from identification through closure, including retesting, regression impact analysis, and collaboration on likely root causes.
  • Perform or support performance, accessibility, browser compatibility, and security-focused testing as appropriate for the solution.
  • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, consultants, and end users to clarify requirements and resolve quality issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, test estimation, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, release planning, and production-readiness assessments.
  • Support and facilitate User Acceptance Testing, including test preparation, business-user guidance, issue triage, and results reporting.
  • Track quality metrics, identify recurring defect patterns, and recommend improvements to testing practices, automation coverage, and delivery processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional software quality assurance and testing experience.
  • Strong experience with manual testing, test design techniques, defect management, risk-based testing, and software quality practices.
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, system integrations, databases, and data-driven business applications.
  • Hands-on experience testing Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps and Dataverse; experience with Power Automate is preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated tests with Playwright, Selenium, EasyRepro, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data validation, along with experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman or comparable utilities.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans, Jira, or a comparable application lifecycle management and test management platform.
  • Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD concepts, release validation, and software configuration management.
  • Understanding of application security, identity, authentication, authorization, and role-based access concepts, including Microsoft Entra ID where applicable.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and documentation skills.
  • Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, curious, and able to respectfully challenge assumptions to improve solution quality.

Software QA and Test Automation Skills:

  • Ability to select and apply appropriate testing techniques across functional, integration, regression, API, data, usability, performance, accessibility, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Experience creating maintainable automated test suites and integrating automated tests into repeatable build or release processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming concepts used for test automation, test utilities, data setup, and validation.
  • Experience with performance testing and accessibility testing against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is preferred.
  • Ability to use AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT to generate test ideas, edge cases, API test scripts, automation code, and defect-analysis hypotheses while applying appropriate human review.
  • Experience supporting federal government clients or working in regulated delivery environments is preferred.

Microsoft Power Platform Experience:

  • Experience validating Power Apps canvas and model-driven applications across user interfaces, business logic, data operations, permissions, and end-to-end business processes.
  • Experience testing Dataverse tables, relationships, business rules, security roles, data integrity, and environment-specific configurations.
  • Familiarity with testing Power Automate cloud flows, connectors, approvals, exception handling, and integrations with Microsoft 365 or external systems.
