Candidates for the Senior Industrial Warter/Wastewater Process Engineer/ Subject Matter Expert role should have significant experience with industrial water/wastewater (W/WW) treatment systems and be capable of leading teams of engineers and designers for conceptual, detailed design and owner's engineer projects. Candidate will provide a strong front-end focus, particularly for E&R business in the US and Canada Regions, assist with efforts to pursue Energy, Power, Mining and Advanced Manufacturing markets.

 In this role you will work to understand your client's needs, develop creative solutions, support proposal development, lead the technical team, and lead the engineering design of complex industrial process W/WW systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with open and closed cooling water, boiler feedwater, demineralized water, reverse osmosis, chemical feed, and other similar industrial W/WW systems. The successful candidate will support business development activities including proposal development, delivering technical presentations, and supporting growth of client relationships. This role also includes the opportunity to supervise and/or mentor younger engineers

Responsibilities include:

  • Help with client development and project positioning as senior process engineering advisor.
  • Collaborates/interacts with the Business Development Teams.
  • Collaborate/interaction with the IWW Process engineering team in the pursuit of business opportunities.
  • Assist with development of project approaches and scope of work
  • Working on strategic projects as SME or/and technical advisor
  • Provide technical leadership for front-end oriented projects, including business case studies, and DBM's.
  • Leading the technical portions of proposal development including scope, schedule, and fee.
  • Performing or overseeing process design sizing and hydraulic calculations including mass balances, water treatment system conceptual designs, and calculations to determine required equipment and tank sizes and capacities
  • Developing design criteria, equipment and procurement specifications, studies, bid evaluations, and reports
  • Leading the development of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, piping arrangement drawings and installation details.
  • Reviewing and evaluating equipment vendor and installation contractor proposals and submittals.
  • Developing and executing QA/QC plans
  • Leading technical teams including engineers, EITs, designers, and drafters.
  • Working directly with project managers and clients to ensure that projects meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Developing water supply and discharge agreements and permits. Meet with permitting authorities.
  • Providing internal and external training on industrial process W/WW systems
  • Implement, monitor and support company policies
  • Assist in the selection, training, development and management of technical personnel
  • Creating recommendations for client facility standard monitoring systems, procedures, lab/chemical/reagent management, and staff training.


Preferred Qualifications 

  • MS Project engineering and management experience in a consulting or EPC firm.
  • Proven project leadership, project engineering management (staffing, schedule and budget), and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical communications skills.
  • Broad knowledge of water/wastewater design processes and technologies.
  • Team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.
  • Process modeling experience
  • Existing relationships with industrial clients
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
  • A minimum of 10 years experience with Municipal Water and Wastewater Systems Planning and Design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong technical background and experience in designing water distribution systems
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation and hydraulic modeling software
  • Project Engineering and Project Management experience is necessary
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
