Job Summary
In this highly visible and dynamic role, the Strategy Analyst will work on special projects that support Vistra's Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer. Vistra's Strategy and M&A team is responsible for originating, valuing, and investment strategy, and evaluating emerging technologies in the innovation executing potential M&A opportunities, evaluating corporate strategic initiatives, coordinating n and venture capital space.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
  • In this position, the candidate will be required to:
  • Coordinate/orchestrate projects and commitments directly involving Vistra's Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer and SVP, Corporate Strategy
  • Develop ad hoc reports / presentations to meet evolving needs
  • Strong grasp of financial statements and valuation analysis
  • Build and develop financial valuation models for evaluation of M&A, strategic, and innovation opportunities
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential M&A deals, gathering information and preparing materials for senior leadership review
  • Coordinate teams of subject matter experts for diligence and execution of M&A, strategy, and innovation-related projects
  • Support the creation of industry benchmarking tools
  • Conduct industry analysis and research
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, and collaborative work approach from peer level up to executives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • 4-7 years of experience in industry (corporate development / strategy, investment banking, management consulting, private equity / venture capital, or related fields)
  • Experience gained through direct involvement in corporate strategy and/or M&A transaction execution with cross-functional coordination (incl. financial analysis, due diligence, project coordination, etc.)
  • Experience with financial analysis and building valuation models
  • Experience working and coordinating cross-functional teams for diligence and project execution
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications applicable to above skills
  • Strong writing skills and expertise at summarizing quantitative data and strategic considerations in charts and graphics
  • Adapts well to change and meets commitments in a deadline-driven environment with multiple competing priorities
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferable
  • Knowledge of the energy industry (power and gas) preferable
  • Minimum education is HS Diploma or equivalency

Key Metrics
  • Responsibilities include developing presentations, gathering information, building spreadsheet models, coordinating project teams, working on a variety of strategy projects, and assisting with day-to-day responsibilities of the Strategy group. The candidate will gain exposure to Vistra's business segments (TXU Energy, Luminant, Dynegy) and knowledge of the electric and gas energy industry while developing important analytical and communication skills. The candidate will be part of an elite team that interfaces and directly supports Vistra's senior leadership, external consultants, a nd other key stakeholders.
