Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking talented and motivated marine designers and drafters to support the development of autonomous surface vessels. This role will provide hands-on experience in traditional vessel design and advanced autonomous technologies; driving impact in defense innovation.
Responsibilities
  • Support new vessel construction through detailed 2D and 3D modeling and technical drawings and production support
  • Create and modify ship construction drawings
  • Work directly with naval architects, marine engineers, structural engineers, and electrical engineers on new vessel design implementation
  • Develop and maintain strict drawing standards and best practices
  • Mentor and guide other designers in both CAD modeling and ship design best practices
  • Create documentation for marine regulatory compliance
  • Work with production and build engineering team to document as built details

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology or similar field of study
  • 6+ years of CAD drafting experience in the marine industry
  • Experience leading a team of marine designers
  • Strong expertise in one or more areas of vessel design: general design, mechanical design, electrical design, structural design, and piping design
  • Knowledge of maritime regulatory requirements, construction tolerances, and vessel construction processes and sequences
  • Experience creating and submitting drawing for submittal to classification societies such as ABS, DNV, and LR.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software like NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, and Rhino
