GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in Wichita, KS!

What you'll be challenged to do:
This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Construction Inspector who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This individual inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This individual will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
  • Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
  • Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
  • Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
  • Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
  • Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
  • Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
  • Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

What you will bring to our firm:
  • High school diploma.
  • 0-4 year of construction inspection experience.
  • Experience in construction, inspection, material testing, or transportation engineering for highway projects structures on state KDOT, municipal, and/or municipal projects.
  • A safety-first mindset.
  • Strong writing, listening, and communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:
  • ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state KDOT certification are recommended, but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
  • Ability and desire to lead.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $20.00 - 26.00 per/hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
