Job description


  • Lead execution on innovation projects and realization of expected outcomes and learning through cross-functional teams

  • Monitor project status, applying best practices and methods to manage and control project resources and scope

  • Communicate major milestones, identify and manage project risks, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans, provide direction to project teams, and conduct regular stakeholder status meetings

  • Conduct market intelligence to identify market trends, opportunities, competitive advantages, and threats

  • Secure cross-functional and cross-divisional stakeholder alignment and engagement

  • Surface and support cross-functional business challenges and dependencies; create and implement solutions

  • Establish a market-sensitive research agenda relating to critical operational topics and functions

  • Conduct vendor briefings, web surveys, and end-user interviews to collect primary market intelligence and build market credibility

  • Maintain broad awareness of business-line functions, technology changes, and industry trends, including innovation impacts on processes

  • Build long-term relationships with external organizations and end-user partners

  • Collect and analyze market and competitor intelligence from internal and external sources

  • Assess emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and Insurtech solutions, for business applicability and strategic value

  • Facilitate innovation workshops, design-thinking sessions, and experimentation activities to identify, prototype, and validate opportunities

  • Report into the Business Innovation team and work with business partners across operations, underwriting, IT, and other departments


Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred

  • 4-8 years of experience conducting and executing business and/or IT projects utilizing structured methodologies, such as agile

  • Prior Property and Casualty insurance preferred but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, including storytelling, writing and presenting

  • Ability to understand โ€œthe big pictureโ€

  • Creativity and innovation

  • Ability to communicate concepts, ideas, feelings, opinions, and conclusions so that others understand or are persuaded to act

  • Collaboration skills to leverage knowledge or skills and obtain shared commitment

  • Ability to influence others persuasively and build support, agreement, or commitment

  • Relationship-building skills at all levels

  • Demonstrated ability to build expertise quickly in unfamiliar subject areas; intellectually curious

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Expert understanding of market research techniques/methodologies in data collection is desired
