Lead Full-Stack Developer Remote

This role supports a federal client and requires the ability to obtain a public trust clearance. No sponsorship is available.

We are seeking a Lead Full-Stack Developer to support a major federal modernization initiative focused on building secure, scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS. This is a remote, hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can lead architecture, mentor developers, define technical standards, and still contribute directly to full-stack engineering.

What You Will Do:

โ€ข Lead and mentor full-stack development teams supporting cloud modernization, product development, and solution architecture initiatives. โ€ข Provide hands-on full-stack engineering and architectural oversight for secure, scalable, distributed applications built on AWS. โ€ข Design and implement frontend and backend services using Python, JavaScript, Django, Vue.js, REST APIs, microservices, containers, and AWS-native services. โ€ข Collaborate with clients, solution architects, product owners, UX designers, business analysts, platform engineers, and development teams to deliver resilient software products that meet functional and non-functional requirements. โ€ข Define application architecture standards, development best practices, design patterns, and technical roadmaps across complex modernization projects. โ€ข Ensure solutions align with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles, modern CI/CD practices, API-first design, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native engineering standards. โ€ข Lead technical decision-making, evaluate design tradeoffs, provide escalation support, and guide implementation across multiple concurrent initiatives. โ€ข Support proof-of-concept development, technical demonstrations, proposal efforts, RFP responses, and technical thought leadership.

What You Will Need:

โ€ข Ability to obtain a public trust clearance. โ€ข No sponsorship available. โ€ข Minimum of 8 years of relevant full-stack application development experience, including at least 4 years in technical leadership, architecture, or team lead roles. โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree required, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. โ€ข Strong hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript. โ€ข Experience leading or mentoring teams of 5 or more developers. โ€ข Experience building frontend and backend services for cloud-native software products. โ€ข Django experience preferred; Flask, FastAPI, Falcon, or SQLAlchemy may be considered as alternatives. โ€ข Vue.js experience preferred; React, Svelte, or Angular 1.6+ may be considered as alternatives. โ€ข Experience with microservices architecture, REST API design, Docker or Kubernetes, serverless computing, and CI/CD for enterprise applications. โ€ข Familiarity with AWS SAM and design patterns such as MVC, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven Architecture. โ€ข Ability to design, build, test, deploy, and architect custom AWS cloud applications. โ€ข Strong understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile software delivery practices. โ€ข Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What Would Be Nice to Have:

โ€ข AWS Certified Solutions Architect โ€“ Professional. โ€ข AWS Certified Developer โ€“ Associate. โ€ข Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, EKS/Kubernetes, RDS PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, Docker, and modern monitoring/observability tools. โ€ข Experience supporting technical proposals, white papers, RFPs/RFIs, or consulting solution architecture efforts. โ€ข Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational resilience for large-scale distributed systems. โ€ข Contributions to open-source projects, technical publications, or cloud-native development thought leadership.
