Join our dynamic team as the Lead Laser Operator. In this pivotal role, you will be entrusted with the critical responsibilities of starting up, operating, and shutting down our state-of-the-art fiber-tube laser equipment. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring our laser systems' seamless and efficient operation, contributing to the high standards of quality and precision that Ryerson is renowned for.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Set-up of material and tube laser operation
  • Check parts with basic measuring devices
  • Clean-up of parts (finishing, de-burr, etc.)
  • Work order updates and confirmation on computer
  • Operating a crane or forklift to move material as needed
  • Carrying/moving supplies as needed
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements
  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • 3 plus years of experience operating tube laser machines
  • Able to draw and read blueprints
  • Forklift and crane experience is a plus
  • Must know how to use measuring equipment such as calipers, measuring tape, etc.
  • Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
