Evaluation Period:
  • Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per MCS Performance and Assessment procedures
  • Annual summative evaluation prior to May 30

Purpose of the Position:ย  Assure a safe and orderly environment in and around the school.
Classified as Confidential Employee:ย  Functional responsibilities or knowledge in connection with the issues involved in dealings between the school corporation and its employees require strict adherence to confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements:ย  The following qualifications represent the minimum requirements necessary for an individual to perform this position effectively.
  • Sworn law enforcement officer through the State of Indiana with at least one year experience
  • One year experience working with young people or recommendation by superior officer as being able to effectively work with teens

Essential Functions of the Position:ย  The following functions have been determined by Marion Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Assist in interrogation and appropriate actions in situations where the law has been broken in or around the school.
  • Observe and react to inappropriate behavior in and around the school.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Act as a liaison between the school and the local law enforcement agencies.
  • Monitor front entrance and register visitors
  • Breakfast and lunch supervision
  • Supervision of Tucker students at designated times
  • Assist with traffic control during AM and PM bus shuttles

Secondary Functions of the Position:ย  The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Marion Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.
  • Speak with students on issues of disciplinary and unlawful nature.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Be a presence in hallways and on the parking lot.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Issue citations in collaboration with the principal when appropriate (smoking, reckless driving, etc.).
