Relocation Assistance Available
We are seeking a Lead CNC Plasma/Laser Programmer to join our team in Ruston, LA. This role is responsible for programming and operating burn table equipment, ensuring high-quality production, maintaining tight tolerances, and leading operators within a fast-paced sheet metal manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong CNC plasma/laser experience, nesting software knowledge, and the ability to support workflow, quality, and production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Program and operate CNC plasma and laser burn table equipment
  • Review blueprints, drawings, and bill of materials to determine material and equipment requirements
  • Set up machines and ensure parts are cut accurately and within required tolerances
  • Maintain and troubleshoot burn table equipment as needed
  • Use forklifts and cranes to load and unload materials safely
  • Perform deburring and finishing work using hand and power tools
  • Train and support operators across all skill levels
  • Coordinate workflow priorities with production and department leadership
  • Assist with department scheduling, productivity, and budget support
  • Lead by example in safety, quality, and overall team performance
  • Support performance feedback and employee development with Production Manager

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of CNC plasma/laser programming and burn table operation experience
  • Strong experience with burn table programming and nesting software (Sigma Nest, Messer, Amada, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and bills of material
  • Experience maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards in manufacturing
  • Prior leadership or lead operator experience preferred
  • Forklift certification required
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Strong math, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
