The laser operator creates nesting programs for the cutting machines. Separates, deburrs, and labels parts that come from the laser machine, and is responsible for meeting the daily production requirements. This position is dedicated to getting the job done right the first time and promotes a safe work environment focused on overall continuous improvement and world-class manufacturing

Responsibilities
  • Creation of nesting programs for the cutting machines
  • Operates Trumpf Trulaser 3060
  • Offline programming of the programs.
  • Optimization of nesting in terms of sheet metal consumption.
  • Creation of working papers and labels for downstream processes
  • Scheduling of the production parts, creation of storage programs, and optimizing lot sizes.
  • Answering inquiries from other departments.
  • Provide timely information regarding problems in production that may adversely affect quality, delivery, or customer requirements.
  • Knowledge/use of appropriate tools to keep machines in operation.
  • Attention to detail; adherence to all standards of quality and safety.
  • Addressing machine malfunctions in an efficient and expedited manner.
  • Chart machine performance and administer routine checks/maintenance.
  • Plan the sequences of operation to achieve optimal precision and tolerances.
  • Make suggestions for further improvements in the program to shorten run times.
  • Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Read and understand manufacturing drawings in order to classify them by part type and thickness.
  • Remain constantly alert to detect improper machining.
  • Troubleshoot material issues as they arise.
  • Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards.
  • Undertake continuous training and development.

Qualifications
  • Knows how to work with different hand tools in a safe matter.
  • Read and understands blueprints.
  • Following directions/instructions step-by-step. Has a working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling.
  • Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to the print and process dimensions.
  • Able to an overhead crane, and other lifting devices.
  • Maintain work area and equipment clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Understanding of production processes with strong regard for production quality.
  • Be optimistic and open to change
