Qualifications:

  • Prior experience using hand engraving or other mechanical tools used in a shop environment.
  • Moderate Microsoft Excel skills.

  • The ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings is required.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Addition training beyond the high school diploma is a plus.

EXPERIENCE:  

  • Basic shop equipment knowledge and skills preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary. 
  • Experience with overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
  • Handling and transportation of dies.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Some heavy lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Operation of mobile and other shop equipment

  • Use of hand tools

  • Minimal use of 10x magnifying glass

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Mechanically inclined and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient mathematical skills
  • Good hand eye coordination

Tools and equipment used to perform the job may include but are not limited to the following pending the employee skill set:

  • Ultra-sonic cleaner, pneumatic impact wrenches, hand tools, stamps, measuring tools, die cleaning equipment, drill and tool sharpening machines, computers, overhead cranes, and measurement/inspection equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating laser engraving equipment to accurately identify and mark various tools and inserts with correct corresponding identification numbers to ensure tooling controls are in place. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean and prepare tooling for 2D Marking utilizing tool room die cleaning standard work.
  • Ensure proper placement of components in either storage or 2D Engraving equipment to avoid damage and ensure accurate engraving placement.
  • Utilize tool room inspection equipment to identify or confirm zero defects to tooling prior to use.
  • Confirm with Product Engineering correct tooling identifiers prior to engraving.
  • Attend training functions, possibly including after work study and/or travel to obtain technology updates.
  • Maintain a high attendance record.
  • Abide by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness.
