Description
A full-time, 9-month, Engineering Technology-Laser Material Processing instructional faculty position is available beginning August 7, 2026. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Applied Physics, or a closely related field is required. Graduate degrees in these areas is a plus while consideration may be made for applicants with associate degrees and appropriate industry experience in operating and maintaining laser systems. Experience in developing industry aligned training and curriculum is desirable. Applicants should submit copies of transcripts with other requested documents.
This faculty manages and teaches the Laser Material Processing (LMP) curriculum and should be proficient in fundamentals of laser processing; additive and subtractive manufacturing processes using lasers; and troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of laser systems. Currently, the engineering lab includes Trumpf laser systems, IPG LightWELD handheld laser welders, a Boss Laser flatbed, and an Xact Metal 3D printer. Successful candidates should be proficient or become proficient with this equipment and be able to expand the College's capabilities in this field.
The successful candidate will use a learner-centered approach to teaching that incorporates active learning strategies and technology to enhance student learning. Primary duties include in-person and online classroom teaching; curriculum and course development; student academic advising; assessment of student learning; maintaining strong relationship with SME and industry partners; and participation in college-wide initiatives.
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills, ability to work in teams, and flexibility to teach day or evening hours. The primary location for this position is at the College's main campus in Springfield with potential to teach at other locations in Beavercreek, Bellefontaine, and Xenia, and summer teaching. The position reports to the Dean, School of Business and Applied Technologies. Position will remain open until filled.
Faculty Standards
All faculty are required to:
  • Participate in scheduled institutional meetings and activities
  • Participate in program and College accreditation, curriculum development, and program assessment
  • Assist in the formulation of school objectives and goals
  • Serve on at least one faculty or All-College Committee annually (after the first year of hire)
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to student and institutional need
  • Participate in student and/or community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission of the College
  • Assist in the articulation of courses and programs with secondary and post- secondary institutions

Teaching/Learning
Successful teaching in a learner-centered environment requires knowledge as well as the ability to design, implement, manage, and assess courses taught in a variety of instructional modes. Each faculty member is required to:
