RN Infection Prevention Specialist

The RN Infection Prevention specialist ensures safe infection prevention and control practices across hospital and ambulatory settings. This role monitors infection trends, conducts surveillance of hospital-acquired infections, and analyzes data to identify risks and implement prevention strategies. The nurse collaborates with staff, patients, and leadership to provide education, support infection control initiatives, and guide safe practices for specialized populations, equipment, and environments. Responsibilities also include supporting the Infection Control Committee, leading quality improvement efforts, reporting to regulatory agencies, and conducting infection control rounds to maintain the safety of patients, families, and staff.

Shifts: 40 hours per week (Days) - On call required

Work location: St. Petersburg, Florida

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree, in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) Required. Florida State or Compact License required
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 3 years of hire into the position
  • 5 years of work experience in a related field (e.g. Nursing)
  • Current licensure in the State of Florida as a registered nurse

Salary Range: Minimum 37.22/hour - Maximum 57.70/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
