Job description

Lanier Technical College - (www.laniertech.edu) is preparing for Fall semester 2026, and we are conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA non-exempt position. POSITION: PART-TIME MATHEMATICS TUTOR - DIFFERENT CAMPUS LOCATIONS AVAILABLE
REPORTS TO:ย  Director of Academic Success

HOURLY RATE: $22.00; up to 19.5 hours per week

Fall Semester: August 10th - December 7th, 2026
ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 
  • Tutors student(s) at Lanier Technical College in the subject area of Mathematics;
  • Meets with student(s) on an established basis in a learning center, community location, or classroom site convenient to both tutor and student(s);
  • Assigns manageable tasks and provides positive feedback;
  • Finds and prepares appropriate teaching materials that suit the student(s)' ability, goals, and interests;
  • Discusses student(s) progress with appropriate staff;
  • Carefully listens to student(s) and offers encouragement and support;
  • Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages the student(s) to learn;
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the tutoring areas;
  • Meets ALL required deadlines as established by Supervisor;
  • Performs basic administrative duties to support the daily operations of the tutoring program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of math classes with a minimum grade of "B" in College degree-level Math courses, such as Quantitative Skills; College Algebra; Statistics; Calculus I; Calculus II; Calculus III; or Differential Equations.ย 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or closely related field from a regionally accredited College or University;

Previous work experience as a Tutor.

Physical Demands

Would occasionally lift or move objects of a light to medium weight, up to 20 pounds.ย  Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.ย  Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.ย 

This position is available at all Lanier Tech campuses; and day and evening times are available.ย 

NOTE: Tutoring positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic-term basis.
