RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Language Learning Specialist | Language and Cultural Education [ARMY032037]

  • Deliver targeted language instruction to U.S. service members, enhancing language proficiency in alignment with Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) goals.
  • ย Design and develop lesson plans and Programs of Instruction (POIs) tailored to military language needs.
  • ย Integrate culturally relevant and mission specific content into language instruction.
  • ย Create immersive learning environments using multimedia tools, including online systems and digital media.
  • ย Monitor and assess language learning progress and provide feedback to service members and program managers.
  • ย Implement Second Language Acquisition (SLA) methodologies to address different learning styles and proficiency levels (ILR 0+ to 4+).
  • ย Maintain accurate training records and reports for training hours, content, and service member progress.
  • ย Participate in ongoing professional development, ensuring alignment with DoD guidelines and instructional standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in target languages as per ILR standards (from Level 0+ to Level 4+).

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Foreign Language, Education, or related field.
  • ย Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching language at various levels of proficiency, preferably in a military or government setting.
  • ย Experience in developing lesson plans and POIs for language acquisition programs.
  • ' Army Training Certification Tracking System certification.
  • ย OPSEC Training and Cyber Awareness Training (formerly IA/IT).
  • ย Privacy Training certification.
  • ย Valid security clearance may be required depending on assignment location

  • Advanced language proficiency in at least one foreign language, including speaking, listening, and reading skills at ILR 3 or higher.
