Role OverviewThe Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) delivers speech and language services that help students access instruction and make progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) communication goals. Working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, this role partners with educators, families, and student support teams to provide high-quality, compliant services that support student success.
In this role, you execute assigned tasks with quality and on time, working within a scope set by your supervising Speech-Language Pathologist. You determine how to complete your assigned work and escalate decisions requiring clinical judgment or changes to student programming.

Core ResponsibilitiesStudent Speech and Language ServicesExecutes speech-language interventions under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist so students make measurable progress toward their IEP communication goals.
Implements instructional activities and therapeutic strategies aligned to student IEPs to increase communication, language, and literacy skills.
Tracks student progress during service delivery and documents performance to support ongoing instructional planning and progress monitoring.
Maintains accurate service logs, attendance records, and student documentation that meet federal, state, and organizational compliance requirements.
Supports the implementation of IEP services by preparing materials, collecting data, and contributing progress information within the SLPA scope of practice.
Escalates concerns regarding student progress, service delivery, or compliance to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist in a timely manner.
Partners with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to reinforce communication strategies that increase student access to instruction.
Communicates with families and school teams regarding student participation and progress under the guidance of the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Supports professional learning and modeling of speech and language strategies for educators as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Maintains professional licensure, confidentiality, and ethical standards in accordance with California regulations and KIPP NorCal policies.
Participates in regional professional development and team meetings to strengthen instructional practice and collaboration.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Experience
Experience supporting students with speech, language, or communication needs through clinical placements, internships, or professional practice.
Demonstrated knowledge of speech-language intervention techniques and special education service delivery.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or completion of a California-approved Speech-Language Pathology Assistant preparation program.
Current California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license in good standing.
Knowledge/skills
Knowledge of speech-language intervention strategies and IEP implementation.
Knowledge of federal and California special education regulations applicable to the SLPA scope of practice.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
