Responsibilities
  • As a part-time/substitute educational sign language interpreter, you will provide communication access to Dead/HOH students in the classroom, at extracurricular activities, and during other school-related events.
  • You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
  • Be familiar with the NC Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and be able to interpret IEP meetings and other related meetings.
  • Create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ years interpreter experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in sign language interpreting or a related field
  • ASL/English proficiency at the C-level or higher
  • Experience interpreting in a school setting
  • EIPA 3.5 or higher
  • Knowledge of the EIP process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
