We are seeking Telugu Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Telugu is a major South Indian Dravidian language, spoken widely in India and among diaspora communities, and is often required in immigration and asylum interviews.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Telugu ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Deliver interpretation with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Handle both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Telugu and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
