Job Description
The Department of World Languages and Cultures of the University of Missouri-Kansas City is continuously seeking qualified candidates for part-time adjunct faculty teaching positions in French, German, and Spanish.
THE INTENT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO IDENTIFY A POOL OF ADJUNCT FACULTY WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO DELIVER PRIMARILY UNDERGRADUATE ELEMENTARY AND INTERMEDIATE LEVEL COURSES.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and native or near-native fluency in the foreign language required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent advanced degree in the foreign langauge or appropriate related field, or completed at least one year of a graduate program in the target language
  • Some college-level teaching experience (at least one semester of teaching)
  • Taught a full class in the target language at the high- school level or at an organization
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
  • Engaged in at least two teaching development activites, such as interning in a high school language program, shadowing a high school teacher or university professor for a semester, served as a teaching assistant, have taken a pedagogy course, or trained by a language coordinator
  • Completed a year-long study abroad program
  • Completed two or more conference presentations or publications (inlcuding trade, journalistic, or literacy) in or on the target language

Anticipated Hiring Range
Commensurate with education, experience and internal equity.
