Job description

Duties: Perform landscape maintenance duties, such as planting, pruning, fertilization and other tasks needed for general care and maintenance of planted areas. May cut and trim areas around trees, buildings, walks, playground equipment, etc. Will work with ride on or push behind mowers, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, chain saw, pole saw, lopping shears, and pruning shears. The job will require one to plant trees, shrubs and flowers. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. Must be able to work singularly or as part of a team. Must be able to work for long periods of time standing, bending and kneeling on a variety of surfaces. Will assist in trenching, and installation of irrigation systems. Will plant annual flowerbeds, renovate existing landscaped areas, and perform new landscaping. Maintains and cleans equipment and tools. May work with construction crew constructing hardscaped areas such as walkways, planting beds, retaining walls, fences, etc. Applies chemicals for weed control, growth regulation, and insect. Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures and guidelines. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. PREFERRED: May be required to obtain Texas license to apply herbicides.
