Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Department: Acute Department

Job Summary:

  • Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, provide direct care and assistance to patients admitted to the Acute Department.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Provide bedside care, assist with patient positioning, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Accurately measure and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pain level.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to licensed nursing personnel.
  • Assist nursing staff in setting up and maintaining sterile fields, and support patients during diagnostic procedures.
  • Support safe patient transport within the hospital including to radiology, surgery, and therapy.
  • Respond to patient call lights and assist promptly and respectfully.
  • Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in patient rooms and care areas.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with the care team in ensuring high-quality and timely patient care.
  • May be reassigned within the nursing division to meet patient care needs.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in basic nursing care and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to accurately document patient care activities and vital signs.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology and acute care procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient safety, fall precautions, and standard precautions.
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress or emergent situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Familiarity with acute care equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, IV poles, bed alarms, etc.).
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
  • Commitment to patient privacy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Adaptable and dependable with the ability to prioritize workload.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a nursing assistant course.
  • Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)/Healthcare Provider certification.
