All camps share a common purpose: creating an environment where Young Life staff bring Christ to life by creatively presenting the complete gospel of Jesus Christ. Speaking clearly from the Scriptures, camp speakers introduce kids to the person of Christ, the nature of humanity, the work of Christ on the cross, the hope of the resurrection and the opportunity for reconciliation with God.

Essential Duties:

Landscape
  • Provide care for the turf (top dressing, fertilizing, aeration, etc.)
  • Provide care for the plants and shrub (pruning, planting, fertilizing and herbicide.)
  • Design, plant and care for flower and planting beds for spring and summer.
  • Work closely with the landscape foreman in scheduling fertilizing, aeration and mowing.
  • Develop and maintain irrigation systems.
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for landscape and farm operations.
  • Provide input in the development of a landscape master plan.
  • Perform landscape and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
Maintenance
  • Coordinate DIN/PM/projects, supervising the work of two - four maintenance personnel.

  • Act as back-up to camping superintendent.
Relationships
  • Meet weekly to plan and strategize for landscape, maintenance and projects.
  • The landscape supervisor will work closely with the landscape foreman in all aspects of landscape.
Working Conditions:
  • This position requires that the staff person be able to: lift at least fifty (50) pounds of materials waist high, operate mowers, tillers and other equipment necessary for landscaping and lawn care, stand on his/her feet for at least eight hours a day, bend, twist, carry and do other physical activities necessary to perform this job.

  • The majority of the job will take place out of doors, and the staff person will be exposed to heat, cold and various climate conditions as well as dirt and chemicals used in landscaping.

Education:
  • AA in horticulture

  • Three years landscape experience or five years of experience in landscape care and design


Experience Required For The Job:
  • Knowledge of area plants and shrubs highly desired.

  • Ability to oversee day-to-day maintenance functions, personnel and projects.

Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.

Job Specific Working Conditions:


Washington Family Ranch is a remote property (located one hour from the closest grocery store) with a large dedicated staff that results in approximately 120 people living year round at camp. This creates a unique and spiritually rewarding environment of Christianworkand fellowship. There are two camps located here: a high school focused camp (Canyon) and a middle school camp (Creekside). Affordable housing is available on property.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is outlined below. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the United States.

The anticipated salaried rate for this position can range from32,670 - 49,100 annually depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
