Job description

Midwest Landscape Industries, Inc. is a leading landscape management and installation company known for delivering exceptional commercial landscape services. Since 2016, we have been empowering and assisting our employees develop their careers as we grow our company.  We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Landscape Development & Management Divisions. This role is crucial to our aggressive growth plans and involves working closely with our operations team to ensure project success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscape, maintenance, and irrigation installation, as well as commercial construction or landscape experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop clear and accurate scope documents for Design/Build projects
  • Perform quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for all items within the assigned scope
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other construction or maintenance documents
  • Collaborate with Operations to prepare detailed General Conditions/Requirement (GC/GRs) estimates
  • Lead the value engineering process during preconstruction for assigned projects
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, ethics, and compliance standards
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations and Purchasing during preconstruction efforts
  • Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Analyze and compile cost data, unit prices, historical costs, and information for future estimates
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor proposals
  • Ensure MLI Service Agreement Field documents are complete and submitted by Account Managers
  • Produce estimates using templates and production calculators, ensuring budgets and profits are met
  • Finalize agreements using the Aspire, MSWord Service Agreement Template, and submit to Account Managers
  • Maintain current material pricing and update Project Managers and Account Managers on pricing trends
Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience as an Estimator
  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong understanding of landscape, maintenance, and irrigation installation and construction methods
  • Basic knowledge of plant material and best horticultural practices
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Aspire Software, OST, and Landscape Estimating Systems
  • Understanding of business math, negotiating, contracts, accounting, and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
Compensation

The salary for this full-time position ranges from $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year.
