Job description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Engineer in our Construction Engineering & Inspection group located in Baton Rouge.

Responsibilities
  • Lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge projects following LADOTD and local agency standards
  • Apply the standards described in the LADOTD Construction Manuals and LADOTD Standard Plans, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and AASHTO
  • Apply and monitor work zone traffic control plans (WZTC/MPT)
  • Perform civil engineering cost estimates
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with other team members of the construction team, manage, train and mentor junior civil engineers as well as coordinate with other project disciplines during construction
  • Complete work accurately and in accordance with quality control and quality assurance procedures
  • Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and any special requirements
  • Manage the preparation of Daily Inspection Reports to document the work performed; the manpower, material, and equipment used; field measure and calculate quantities of work completed and other pertinent information

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science with a concentration on Civil Engineering
  • Licensed PE
  • Detail and goal-oriented, and proficient in both verbal and written communications
  • Five+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering
  • Highway: some or all the experience with the reconstruction of asphalt and concrete pavements, drainage systems, roadway lighting and traffic signals; utility protection/relocation; pavement markings/striping; and related work
  • Bridge: Several or all the following: concrete & steel demolition; repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel; steel erection; construction of reinforced concrete decks; retaining walls and/or substructure units (piles, piers & abutments); reconstruction of approach roadways; inspection of Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) and related work
  • LADOTD projects and SiteManager experience (preferred)
  • Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment
