Job description

Are you an engineering leader who is successfully delivering major transportation projects for LaDOTD? If so, we have an opportunity for you: we're looking for a Practice Leader to join our team in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area to work with LaDOTD to improve their Project Delivery and build and manage a portfolio of profitable roadway and transportation projects for LaDOTD.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the operational and strategic direction of our LaDOTD business. You'll oversee building relationships with clients, project management and delivery, and profitable growth. You'll have the full support of Garver's tools and resources and have the autonomy to run a business within a business. With that support and autonomy, you'll be well-positioned to be an effective seller-doer, balancing business development with team and project management.
What you'll do:
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Lead business development activities, including direct client interaction and engagement
  • Procure, manage, and execute DOTD projects as needed
  • Manage projects, coordinating with sub-consultants, scheduling projects/tasks, negotiating and developing contract scope and fees, preparing cost estimates, planning production oversight, managing design team members
  • Participate in marketing activities, such as proposal and letter of interest production, interviews, and other presentations
  • Foster collaboration between design teams and specialized service providers

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Professional Engineer Licensure (PE) in the state of Louisiana or the ability to obtain reciprocity within six months
  • 15 or more years of experience managing diverse transportation and roadway projects.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills, including the ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and oversee a highly motivated team, coordinate and balance workload with other regional teams, and present team portfolio performance to senior management
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to prepare scope-of-work and level-of-effort estimates for contract proposals, and to lead and manage a team for successful execution of contracted scope, budget, and schedule
