What is a lacrosse player?

A Lacrosse job typically involves coaching, officiating, or managing teams and events related to the sport of lacrosse. Roles can range from youth and amateur levels to professional and collegiate positions. Responsibilities may include training athletes, developing game strategies, organizing tournaments, or overseeing league operations. Many positions require knowledge of the game, prior playing or coaching experience, and strong leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lacrosse coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lacrosse Coach, you need a deep understanding of lacrosse rules, strategies, and player development, often supported by coaching experience and relevant certifications. Familiarity with video analysis tools, practice planning software, and first aid/CPR certification is typically required. Strong leadership, motivational skills, and effective communication set exceptional coaches apart. These skills are vital for building successful teams, fostering athlete growth, and ensuring a safe, positive sporting environment.

What are some common challenges faced by lacrosse coaches and how can they be addressed?

Lacrosse coaches often face challenges such as managing diverse skill levels within a team, limited practice time, and balancing competitive play with player development. To address these, successful coaches implement differentiated drills, foster open communication to understand individual needs, and prioritize both team cohesion and individual growth. Collaborating closely with assistant coaches and athletic directors also helps in optimizing practice plans and resolving conflicts efficiently, creating a positive environment for athletes to thrive.

Job description

Coach lacrosse on your own schedule in Irvine, California.

STXZ Lacrosse has 1 opening(s) for independent lacrosse coaches in the Irvine area, to cover client requests for private lessons we can't currently fill. We bring you the clients. You run the sessions.

About STXZ

STXZ is a technology platform that connects families with independent lacrosse coaches across the United States. We send you clients in your area, handle the administrative work, and get out of your way so you can coach. If you have lacrosse experience and want coaching work on a flexible schedule, this is for you.

How it works

When a family near Irvine requests lessons through STXZ, we send you a client offer with the details. You review it and decide whether to take it. No quotas, no pressure, no penalty for declining.

When you accept:

  • You contact the client directly within 24 hours
  • You and the client agree on schedule and location: their home, a local field, a park, your call
  • You run the session your way. Drills, pacing, and structure are your professional judgment
  • You submit a quick lesson briefing on the platform after the session
  • You get paid

STXZ never tells you how to coach, what drills to use, or how to structure your lessons.

What you earn
  • $35 to $50 per one-hour session, paid as a flat per-lesson rate. Rates are set by STXZ, vary by market and demand, and are confirmed in writing before your first lesson.
  • Payout within 24 to 48 hours after you submit your lesson briefing, via PayPal
  • 1099-NEC issued at year end if you earn $2,000 or more through the platform
  • Paid per completed session. Lesson volume depends on client demand in your area, and STXZ does not guarantee a minimum number of lessons.
  • No fee to apply, and nothing to pay up front
Schedule

Most lessons run weekday afternoons and evenings and on weekends. Work when you want and pause your availability anytime.

What you control
  • Your schedule. Accept or decline every offer without penalty or impact on your standing.
  • Your methods. Drills, lesson plans, teaching style, all yours.
  • Your territory. Set your own travel radius, from a few miles to 35 or more.
  • Your approach. You decide what equipment to bring to each session.
What STXZ handles
  • Client acquisition. We market the platform and bring families to you.
  • Matching. We send you local client offers that fit your profile.
  • Payment processing. We collect from clients and pay you after each session.
  • Billing, refunds, and disputes. Our support team handles all of it. You coach.
  • Liability coverage. Active coaches are enrolled in STXZ's platform liability coverage program for sessions booked through STXZ. The program fee is $30 per year, and it is $0 down: nothing is due to get started or to begin receiving client offers. The fee is recovered from your first lesson payout once you start coaching. This is limited coverage for platform-booked sessions only; independent coaches may also choose to carry their own personal insurance.
Who this is for
  • Coaching experience at the youth, high school, club, or college level, or playing experience at the high school varsity, club, college, or professional level
  • 18 or older
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Willing to complete a third-party background check, arranged by STXZ, before receiving full client details
  • Reliable transportation to training locations in your area
  • Your own stick and basic training equipment: cones, balls, training aids
  • Strong communication with parents, players, and the STXZ team
  • Professionalism and confidence working independently with families and youth athletes
How to apply

Apply here (about 2 minutes). If your background fits, we send a short coaching profile questionnaire: playing history, coaching experience, positions, availability. After review and background screening, approved coaches start receiving local client offers.

STXZ is a technology platform that connects clients with independent lacrosse coaches. STXZ does not employ, supervise, manage, or control coaches or their training sessions. Coaches are engaged as independent contractors and are responsible for their own coaching methods, taxes, and scheduling. STXZ considers all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
