Position Description
Graduate Assistant, Men's Lacrosse
REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR
STATUS: PART-TIME, 10-MONTH/2 YEAR
Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for Graduate Assistant, Men's Lacrosse. Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The Graduate Assistant, Lacrosse is responsible for duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Lacrosse and will manage a secondary responsibility as defined.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as recruiter for the sport of men's lacrosse, identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions
  • Assists with organization of all aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice and team operations.
  • Helps execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics.
  • Handles uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Assists with student-athlete study table coverage and coordination.
  • Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to leave lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
  • Acts as an ambassador of the college and conducts oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
  • Operates within the mission of the college and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
  • Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations regarding Men's Lacrosse and athletics in general.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Men's Lacrosse or Director of Athletics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All members of the Department of Athletics are responsible for knowing and following all institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program. If regulations are not followed and result in a violation, employees are expected to self-report the violation to the compliance office or to the director of athletics. Additionally, employees must understand that those who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management or related field preferred.
  • Acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences.
  • Collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and has a sense of humor.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as across academic and administrative departments.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct.
