Job Description
The NI ADG (Aerospace, Defense, Government Business Unit) Customer Centric Solutions Team is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design.
In this role you will be working in a cross-functional development team developing custom test systems for prime ADG customers. The primary responsibility will be developing instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a wide range of NI and third-party test equipment. You will also interface with our Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering team to provide strategic design implementation guidance to best enable testability of our systems. You will be responsible for providing handoff and direct support of software test applications to customer engineering teams, including developing necessary documentation.
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:
  • Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining custom solutions
  • Defining and implementing system test plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
  • Verification of the developed tests to ensure compliance with and coverage of requirements
  • Traveling as needed domestically and abroad in support of project objectives

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • B. S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand
  • Experience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with some of the following: analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instrument's switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces, such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols
  • Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python)
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment
    • Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions
    • Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently
    • Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
