Job description

Job Title: Labourer / Gradesman

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and physically fit individual to join our excavation crew. The Labourer/Gradesman will assist with digging, trenching, grading, and site preparation work on construction sites. Gradesman is responsible for all grades, levels, layouts and minor survey at the job site. Must be in good physical health and have the ability to hand expose when required. This role requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, follow instructions, and maintain safety standards at all times.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist equipment operators by clearing sites, marking lines, and ensuring safe excavation zones.
  • Dig trenches, foundations, or holes manually or using basic tools.
  • Load and unload construction materials, and transport them around the site.
  • Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Help with site layout and measurement using levels, lasers, or tape measures.
  • Support installation of pipes, drainage systems, and other infrastructure.
  • Follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Assist in backfilling, compacting, and grading tasks.
  • Identify and report potential hazards to the supervisor.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in excavation, landscaping, or general construction preferred but not required.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy objects, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
