How much do laborist jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 23, 2026, the average yearly pay for laborist in the United States is $120,212.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $100,000.00 and $135,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Some high-paying medical roles, such as laborists or specialized surgeons, can earn around $2,000 or more per day, especially with extensive experience and in high-demand environments. Other professions like certain corporate executives, trial lawyers, or consultants may also reach this daily income level, often requiring advanced skills, certifications, or significant responsibility.

What is a laborist?

A laborist is an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) who specializes in caring for women during labor and delivery in a hospital setting. Unlike traditional OB-GYNs who manage both office visits and deliveries, laborists focus exclusively on inpatient care, monitoring laboring patients, handling emergencies, and performing deliveries and cesarean sections as needed. This role helps to improve patient safety and allows for continuous, specialized care in the hospital. Laborists often work in shifts to provide 24/7 coverage in maternity wards.

What does a laborist do?

A laborist is a healthcare professional, typically an obstetrician-gynecologist, who specializes in managing labor and delivery. They monitor and assist women during childbirth, perform procedures if needed, and ensure the safety of both mother and baby in the hospital setting. Laborists often work in shifts to provide 24/7 coverage for obstetric care.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A laborist typically earns a salary that varies based on experience and location, but most healthcare roles like laborists require specialized medical training and degrees. Jobs that can pay $10,000 a month without a degree include certain sales positions, skilled trades such as plumbing or electrical work, or entrepreneurship, often requiring strong skills, certifications, or business acumen. High earnings without a degree usually involve specialized skills, experience, or self-employment.

How does the schedule and work-life balance typically look for a laborist, and what should applicants expect regarding shift work?

Laborists typically work scheduled shifts, often 12 to 24 hours at a time, covering labor and delivery units to provide continuous care. This structure allows for predictable schedules and generally eliminates on-call duties outside of assigned shifts, contributing to a more balanced work-life arrangement compared to traditional obstetric practices. However, applicants should be prepared for night, weekend, and holiday shifts, as laborists are needed around the clock to ensure patient safety. Teamwork is essential, as laborists frequently collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other physicians to provide comprehensive care.

Where do OB-GYNs make the most money?

OB-GYNs tend to earn the highest salaries in metropolitan areas with high patient volumes and higher living costs, such as large urban centers. Factors influencing income include hospital employment, private practice ownership, and experience level, with specialists often earning more than generalists. Geographic location, demand for obstetric and gynecological services, and hospital compensation structures also impact earnings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Laborist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Laborist, you need board certification in obstetrics and gynecology, strong clinical skills in labor and delivery management, and expertise in handling obstetric emergencies. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs), fetal monitoring systems, and hospital protocols is crucial. Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities help Laborists support patients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure patient safety, timely interventions, and optimal outcomes in the high-pressure environment of labor and delivery units.
