Job description

Scotty's Contracting and Stone is accepting applications for an Asphalt Plant Laborer! The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and seeking a long- term career opportunity!

RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Perform general labor and housekeeping around the asphalt plant, including shoveling and raking of aggregates (sand, gravel, stone) and asphalt.
โ€ข Assist with plant maintenance including greasing and repairs.
โ€ข Monitor and maintain cleanliness of plant grounds, walkways, and work areas to ensure a safe environment.
โ€ข Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, housekeeping, greasing, and maintenance as required.
โ€ข Operate equipment such as skid steers and dump trucks (off road).
โ€ข Clean and maintain common areas such as the shop, restroom, and control room, to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
โ€ข Support plant operations by performing additional tasks as assigned by plant operator or other team members.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity.
โ€ข Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and overtime as needed.
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
โ€ข Must not be afraid of heights.
โ€ข Must be self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.
โ€ข Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
โ€ข Work Environment: Comfortable working primarily outdoors, including occasional night shifts, with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and a wide range of weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, and rain.
โ€ข Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near heavy mobile equipment.
โ€ข Climbing: Must possess the physical ability to safely climb on and off mobile equipment located more than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain, multiple times per day. Additionally, must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders at heights up to 100 feet.
โ€ข Balance: Including the ability to stand and walk on extremely slick or uneven surfaces while carrying equipment or materials.
โ€ข Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
โ€ข Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
โ€ข Awkward Positions: Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
โ€ข Heavy Lifting: Awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
