What is a Grouting job?

A grouting job involves filling gaps, cracks, or voids in structures using a fluid material that hardens over time. Grouting is commonly used in construction, tile installation, and foundation repair to enhance stability, prevent water infiltration, and improve load-bearing capacity. The process involves mixing and applying grout, ensuring it fills spaces effectively, and allowing it to cure properly. Various types of grouting exist, including cementitious, epoxy, and chemical grouts, each suited for different applications. Skilled workers ensure correct mixing, application, and finishing for durability and structural integrity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Grouting position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Grouting, you need experience in handling grout materials, familiarity with construction drawings, and strong attention to detail, often developed through on-the-job training or vocational coursework. Proficiency in using tools such as grout pumps, mixers, and trowels is common, and safety certifications like OSHA are highly valued. Reliability, teamwork, and effective communication are important soft skills for coordinating with other trades and meeting project deadlines. These competencies ensure accurate, safe grout installation and contribute to the overall quality and success of construction projects.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in Grouting?

As a professional in Grouting, your day may involve preparing surfaces, mixing grout to specified consistencies, and applying it to joints or cavities in tiles, masonry, or foundations. You will often inspect completed work for quality, clean up excess grout, and ensure all work areas comply with safety standards. Additionally, you might collaborate with other construction team members like tile setters, masons, or project supervisors to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow. Flexibility is important, as job sites and project scopes can change, requiring adaptability and effective communication with your team.

We are committed to staying at the forefront of trenchless and underground rehabilitation technology in a stable, recession-resistant sector, delivering reliable and efficient services to our clients.

Position Overview

This role will oversee multiple crews and ensure that all grouting operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing large-diameter pipe rehabilitation projects, coordinating grout operations, and leading field teams in complex underground environments.

What Youโ€™ll Do

โ€ข Lead and supervise multiple grouting crews across active trenchless and underground utility projects
โ€ข Oversee annular space grouting following sliplining or pipe installation
โ€ข Manage chemical and cementitious grout operations, including mix design, batching, pumping, and injection procedures
โ€ข Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget
โ€ข Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, grout suppliers, and subcontractors
โ€ข Monitor grout pressures, volumes, and quality control measures to ensure proper fill and compliance with specifications
โ€ข Troubleshoot field challenges such as voids, infiltration, loss of grout, or ground movement
โ€ข Mentor and develop foremen and crew members to maximize productivity and safety performance
โ€ข Communicate project progress, production rates, and challenges to leadership
โ€ข Support documentation, reporting, and cost control efforts

Required Qualifications

โ€ข 3+ years as a Superintendent or Foreman leading grouting operations in civil, trenchless, underground utility, or geotechnical construction
โ€ข Hands-on experience with annular space grouting for sliplining or pipe rehabilitation projects
โ€ข Experience managing grout pumps, batch plants, and injection systems
โ€ข Strong understanding of grout materials (cementitious, cellular, chemical, polyurethane, etc.) and field application methods
โ€ข Proven ability to lead field crews and maintain high safety standards
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and mix designs
โ€ข Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Experience with Jack & Bore or directional drilling operations
โ€ข OSHA 30 certification preferred
โ€ข Bilingual (English/Spanish)
โ€ข Experience with trenchless technology and confined space work

Perks of the Job

โ€ข Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
โ€ข Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
โ€ข Paid time off and holidays
โ€ข Company vehicle and phone allowance
โ€ข Opportunities for professional growth and training, including trenchless technology certification
โ€ข Supportive team environment with opportunities for career advancement
