Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Industrial Paint & Spray Foam Supervisor is responsible for the execution of all spray operations by leading the Paint Department as well as multiple Spray Foam Technicians ensuring safety, quality, productivity, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction. This role serves as the operational owner of spray resources, workforce development, equipment readiness, quality compliance, and project execution. Responsible for overall department performance related to cost, quality, schedule, and safety in a project-oriented environment.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise daily painting, coating, and production activities to meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Plan manpower, assign work, and allocate resources to support production and project demands.
  • Perform and oversee surface preparation, blasting, masking, and coating applications on structural steel, piping, equipment, and related components.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Operate, maintain, and coordinate repairs and calibration of painting and blasting equipment.
  • Inspect finished work for quality, coating integrity, and compliance with customer and company standards.
  • Monitor productivity, labor performance, quality metrics, and production schedules; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS requirements, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Lead safety, quality, and equipment failure investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train, coach, develop, and evaluate employees while promoting a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and Purchasing to support project execution.
  • Maintain production, inspection, maintenance, and training records.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, resource planning, and capital equipment requirements.
  • Ensure timely movement of materials and finished goods through production, inspection, and shipping.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned by TAS.

JOB SKILLS:

  • Comprehensive understanding of industrial painting, protective coatings, and spray foam application techniques, materials, and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and workforce development skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industrial spray foam processes and equipment.
  • Project planning, scheduling, and manpower forecasting experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of industrial spray foam, coatings, insulation, or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • Experience managing safety, quality, and productivity metrics.
  • Experience conducting inspections and supporting customer audits.
  • Ability to travel between facilities and project locations as required.
  • Ability to pass company qualification requirements.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in an ISO certified environment is a plus.
  • SSPC training and certifications in: Coating Application Specialist (CAS), Applicator Training, Abrasive Blasting Program (C7), Basics of Steel Surface Preparation, Airless Spray Basics (C12), and Plural Component Application for Polyureas & High Solid Coatings
  • Safety: Confined Space, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, OSHA

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required.
  • Lifting of objects up to 50lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments.
  • Safety glasses required while performing tasks.
  • Ability to stand up to 11 hours a day (with a lunch break), up to 6 days a week.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Minimum PPE - Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, & Steel-toe boots are required in manufacturing facilities.
